Yusuf Buhari has won the House of Representatives primary election of the All Progressives Congress for the Daura, Sandamu and Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State.
He was declared the winner after securing 17,342 votes in the party primary held on Saturday, according to election results released by officials.
His closest rival, Auwal Musa Daura, polled 480 votes, making a wide gap between the two candidates in the contest.
In Daura Local Government Area, Yusuf Buhari received 6,386 votes, while his opponent scored 322 votes. In Sandamu Local Government Area, he recorded 5,849 votes, compared to just 21 votes for Auwal Musa Daura.
In Mai’adua Local Government Area, he also led comfortably with 5,102 votes, while his rival polled 137 votes.
Following the announcement, Buhari confirmed his victory in a post shared on Facebook, where he thanked party members and officials for conducting the exercise.
He said the returning officer officially declared him the winner and the party’s candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Before the primary election, party stakeholders had reportedly backed him as a consensus candidate for the constituency, a development that helped shape the outcome of the vote.
The result further strengthens his position within the ruling party as preparations continue ahead of the next general elections in Nigeria.
