The conduct of the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary elections was delayed for several hours on Saturday in parts of Lagos due to the late arrival of election materials and officials.
The delays affected wards in Oshodi Isolo and Surulere, where party members gathered early in the morning expecting accreditation and voting to begin by 8:00 a.m. Instead, many waited for hours as electoral officers and materials failed to arrive on time.
At Ejigbo Ward F5 and Isolo Ward F1 in Oshodi Isolo Federal Constituency, voting had not started by late morning despite a strong turnout of party members.
Some members expressed frustration over the prolonged wait. Salau Samson, a party member at Ward F in Ejigbo, said he had become discouraged after spending most of the day at the venue without any sign that the process would begin soon.
According to him, several supporters left the venue in anger after waiting for hours.
Olanrewaju Akinbowale, the director general of one of the aspirants, said party members had arrived prepared for the exercise and were willing to remain patient until officials and materials reached the polling units.

He noted that although he could not explain the cause of the delay, the party was conducting one of its first major primary elections ahead of the next general elections.
Another APC leader in Ejigbo, Habeeb Anibaba, said the process should ideally have started early but suggested that party leaders might have been resolving internal issues before releasing materials.
In Surulere Federal Constituency I, similar scenes played out across several wards, including Iponri, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Shitta Ogunlana, Yaba Ojuelegba and Akinhanmi Cole.
At Ward G in Surulere, voter Ruth Adewale described the situation as unfair, saying many members had already left and might not return.
Ward Chairman Alhaja Bilikis Aremu urged members to remain calm and blamed the delay on logistics. She said the ward remained united and ready to participate once the exercise commenced.

At the APC secretariat in Ikeja, the chairman of the Lagos House of Representatives Primary Election Committee, Saleh Yipmong, instructed electoral officers to conduct the exercise with fairness, transparency and integrity.
He warned officials against any action that could damage the image of the party.
Although the primaries eventually began in some locations, the delays disrupted the exercise and left many party members frustrated.
