Manchester City F.C. claimed the 2025–26 FA Cup Final after a hard fought 1-0 victory over Chelsea F.C. at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
The final was closely contested, with both teams creating chances but struggling to find a breakthrough for much of the match. City eventually took the lead in the 72nd minute through Antoine Semenyo.
The forward finished in spectacular fashion after receiving a clever pass from Erling Haaland inside the penalty area. With his back to goal, Semenyo used a deft backheel to send the ball past Chelsea’s goalkeeper and into the net, giving City the decisive advantage.
Chelsea nearly responded immediately. Less than a minute after conceding, Marc Cucurella launched a long throw into the box, where Levi Colwill helped the ball on to Enzo Fernández. The midfielder struck quickly, but his shot sailed narrowly over the crossbar.
City held firm during the closing stages to secure another major trophy under manager Pep Guardiola.
The FA Cup triumph marks Manchester City’s second domestic title of the season. In March, they defeated Arsenal 2-0 at Wembley to lift the EFL Cup Final.

The club remains in contention for an even more remarkable campaign. With two matches left in the Premier League season, City still have a chance to overtake Arsenal and complete a domestic treble.
Speaking after the match, Semenyo said his winning goal was instinctive rather than rehearsed. He explained that he occasionally attempts such flicks in training when the ball arrives behind him, and was delighted that it worked on the biggest stage.

The striker also reflected on his first few months at the club, saying he has learned a great deal from the experienced players around him and from Guardiola. He described the past five months as rewarding and expressed hope that his strong form will continue.
Manchester City’s latest victory further underlines their dominance in English football and keeps alive the possibility of another historic season.
