PHILADELPHIA, USA — France and Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has hinted at a possible future move to Major League Soccer (MLS), revealing that Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham has already spoken to him about the prospect of playing in the United States.
The 27-year-old forward made the comments while speaking to reporters ahead of France’s second FIFA World Cup group-stage match against Iraq at Philadelphia Stadium.
Mbappe, who is widely regarded as one of the world’s best players, said he has long been fascinated by American culture and the country’s ambitious mindset, leaving the door open to a potential move to the MLS later in his career.
“Maybe, I don’t know,” Mbappe said when asked whether he could see himself playing in the United States in the future.
“The United States has a different culture than ours. I’ve always loved this culture where ambition knows no bounds. Will I come here before the end of my career? Maybe, I don’t know.”
The France captain then revealed that former England star Beckham has already raised the possibility of a move to Inter Miami.
“David talks to me about it,” Mbappe added with a smile.
Inter Miami have become one of the most high-profile clubs in world football since Beckham helped establish the franchise and later acquired ownership stakes in the club.
The MLS side already boasts an impressive roster featuring Argentine legend Lionel Messi, midfielder Rodrigo De Paul and striker Germán Berterame as Designated Players. Reports have also linked Brazil international Casemiro with a move to South Florida, while England forward Marcus Rashford recently trained at the club’s facilities before joining the Three Lions for their World Cup campaign.
Mbappe’s comments are likely to fuel speculation about his long-term future, although the Real Madrid superstar remains focused on France’s quest for World Cup glory.
The forward has enjoyed an impressive start to the tournament, scoring two goals in France’s opening matches. His tally has taken him to 14 World Cup goals overall, leaving him tied for third place on the competition’s all-time scoring list despite being only 27 years old.
France are currently battling Norway for top spot in Group I, with both teams expected to advance if they maintain their winning form. A potential showdown between the two European nations could ultimately determine the group winner later in the tournament.
For now, Mbappe’s immediate focus remains on helping France secure another World Cup title, but his latest comments suggest a future chapter in the United States cannot be ruled out.
