Chelsea F.C. ended their six-match losing streak in the Premier League after battling to a 1-1 draw against Liverpool F.C. at Anfield on Friday night.
The result frustrated Liverpool’s hopes of tightening their grip on a top-four finish, although Arne Slot’s side moved a step closer to securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Liverpool started brightly and took the lead early through Ryan Gravenberch, who finished calmly after being set up by teenage winger Rio Ngumoha. The youngster impressed throughout the first half and was one of the home side’s standout performers.

Chelsea gradually settled into the contest and drew level 10 minutes before halftime when Enzo Fernández delivered a free kick that evaded everyone in the penalty area and found the back of the net.
Both teams had goals disallowed after the break. Cole Palmer thought he had put Chelsea ahead, but Marc Cucurella was ruled offside in the build-up. Liverpool were later denied when Curtis Jones headed home from Cody Gakpo’s cross, only for Gakpo to be flagged offside.

The decision by Slot to substitute Ngumoha in the 67th minute drew boos from sections of the Anfield crowd, highlighting the tension as Liverpool pushed for a winner.
Late chances fell to Dominik Szoboszlai, whose effort struck the post, and Virgil van Dijk, whose header rattled the crossbar, but Chelsea held on for a valuable point.
Liverpool remain fourth in the standings, seven points clear of sixth-placed Bournemouth, while Chelsea stay ninth but will take confidence from ending a difficult run of form.
