Chelsea are prepared to sanction the sale of left-back Marc Cucurella this summer if their valuation is met, according to talkSPORT.
The 27-year-old, who still has three years remaining on his contract after signing an extension last year, is understood to be open to leaving Chelsea F.C. ahead of the new season as interest builds from several European clubs.
Atletico Madrid are currently the most advanced in their interest and are preparing to open formal talks with Chelsea in the coming weeks over a potential deal for Marc Cucurella.
Atletico view the Spanish international as a priority target despite having added Matteo Ruggeri last year, and discussions on the player’s side are already underway.
The La Liga club are reportedly keen to move quickly in order to secure an agreement before rival teams fully enter the race for his signature.
FC Barcelona are also monitoring Cucurella’s situation, although no formal negotiations are currently progressing. Any potential move would depend on player departures within their current squad to create space and financial flexibility.
Real Madrid CF have also been linked with the Chelsea defender, but sources indicate a transfer is not a priority at this stage.
Real Madrid are instead focusing on strengthening their centre-back options, with renewed discussions taking place over a potential move for Ibrahima Konaté, who is currently a free agent. Any agreement is expected to be influenced by the club’s upcoming presidential elections.
Manchester City F.C. previously attempted to sign Cucurella during his time at Brighton before his £55m move to Chelsea in 2022, rising to £62m with add-ons.
While the player still has admirers at the club, City are currently not prioritising a move for a left-back, with Nico O’Reilly expected to serve as their first-choice option in that position.
Instead, City’s recruitment focus is on a right-back, with Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento among the players admired. Any renewed interest in Cucurella would likely depend on a potential departure of Josko Gvardiol, who is reportedly attracting interest from Bayern Munich.
Cucurella has made 162 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Brighton, scoring nine goals and establishing himself as one of the club’s more consistent performers after a challenging start to his career in London.
Despite early criticism following his arrival, he has grown into a regular feature in the squad and is now regarded as a key contributor, even as Chelsea consider reshaping their defensive options this summer.
The final decision on his future is expected to depend on whether interested clubs meet Chelsea’s valuation, with Atletico Madrid currently best positioned to make a formal offer.
