The Nigerian Army says it will intensify the use of drones, intelligence-driven operations and other advanced technologies to strengthen its campaign against terrorism, insurgency and other security threats across the country.
Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu announced the closing ceremony of the Combat Arms Training Week 2026 at Jaji Military Cantonment.
According to the army chief, modern warfare increasingly depends on technology, making it essential for the military to adopt tools that can improve surveillance, troop coordination and rapid response to emerging threats.
Shaibu said the Nigerian Army would continue integrating drone warfare, combat aviation and advanced training methods into its operations to boost efficiency and effectiveness in the battle against insurgents and terrorists.
The week-long training programme brought together serving and retired senior officers for lectures, strategic discussions and practical demonstrations aimed at improving the Army’s counterterrorism and counterinsurgency capabilities.

In a statement issued by Acting Director of Army Public Relations Colonel Apollonia Anele, the exercise was described as part of ongoing efforts to build a more resilient and technologically equipped force.
The event, themed “Building Troops’ Resilience through Counter Terrorism Campaigns,” featured presentations by military experts and retired generals, focusing on innovation, adaptability and continuous professional development.
Commander Infantry Corps Major General Godwin Mutkut commended the army chief’s leadership, noting that recent reforms had improved troop welfare and operational performance.
