Dr. Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has withdrawn from the 2027 Lagos State governorship race under the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing party unity and alignment with the leadership’s decision.
In a statement on Thursday via X, Jandor said his earlier decision to obtain the APC Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms was driven by conviction and consultations aimed at contributing to Lagos’ development.
However, he said he took the “difficult but necessary decision” to step down following the endorsement of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other party leaders in Lagos.
According to him, the move reflects “strength, discipline, and respect for party cohesion,” rather than weakness or lack of capacity.

Jandor reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and expressed support for the leadership of President Tinubu, describing his direction as central to the stability of the party.
He also declared full alignment with the party’s consensus arrangement for the Lagos governorship race, stressing the importance of party supremacy.
Addressing his supporters under the Lagos4Lagos Movement, he said the group’s mission of inclusion and equity remains intact but must now operate within the party’s chosen direction.

“This is a moment to consolidate, not to divide,” he said, urging supporters to remain calm and committed to the party’s broader goals.
Jandor added that his withdrawal forms part of a longer journey of political service and pledged continued contribution to the development of Lagos State and the APC.
