The All Progressives Congress (APC) has ratified Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election after he emerged unopposed in the party’s primary election held across the state’s 25 local government areas.
The exercise, conducted through direct primaries on Thursday, saw Oborevwori secure 345,375 votes, according to the party’s National Working Committee representative and chairman of the Delta governorship primary election committee, Vita Okafor.
Announcing the result at the APC state secretariat in Asaba, Okafor said the governor satisfied all constitutional and procedural requirements of the party.
“Having satisfied the requirements of the APC constitution and guidelines and scored the highest number of votes, he is hereby declared winner of the primary election and returned as the party’s governorship candidate in Delta State for the 2027 general elections,” he said.

Although Oborevwori was the sole aspirant, the APC proceeded with the direct primary process across all local government areas, with returning officers presenting ward-by-ward results before the final collation.
Okafor praised the governor’s leadership, policies and programmes, saying they had positively impacted residents and strengthened the party’s standing in the state.
Delta APC chairman Solomon Arenyeka also commended party members for what he described as a peaceful and well-organised process. He urged members to sustain the momentum from the party’s state and national assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
