Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has unveiled a development agenda tagged “My Lagos Dream” after emerging as the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 election.
Hamzat formally accepted the party’s ticket on Thursday at the APC state secretariat in Ikeja, where he pledged to focus on job creation, infrastructure, healthcare, education and security if elected governor.
According to him, Lagos must sustain its position as Africa’s commercial hub through strategic investments and people-focused governance.
The deputy governor said his administration would prioritise four key areas, including improved service delivery, youth employment, knowledge and skills development, as well as healthcare and public safety.
“First, service delivery: freeing up more money for services and maintaining the biggest infrastructure investment programme in West Africa. Second, job creation: policies to fast-track jobs for our youths and support for entrepreneurs and industrialisation. Third, knowledge and skills; and fourth, health and well-being to ensure access to healthcare, water and security,” he said.

Hamzat also promised inclusive governance, saying his administration would cater to residents across different social and economic groups in the state.
“I will work for all Lagosians, the fisherman in Badagry and Epe, the trader in Oyingbo, Mile 12 and Balogun. The hardworking driver, the mechanic, the hawker and young people trying to survive will not be forgotten,” he said.
He further pledged continuity of the developmental policies introduced by President Bola Tinubu and previous APC administrations in Lagos.
Hamzat highlighted major projects executed during his years in government, including the Bus Rapid Transit system, the Lagos Blue and Red Rail Lines, Adiyan Water Works, and several road and bridge projects.

“These are the arteries that pump the lifeblood of our economy. They require meticulous planning and a knowledgeable and experienced leader with a firm hand,” he stated.
Describing the 2027 election as critical for both Lagos and Nigeria, Hamzat called for support from party members and residents to continue what he described as the progress of the state.
Hamzat secured the APC governorship ticket during Thursday’s primary election after polling 657,917 votes to defeat contender Olanrewaju Jim-Kamal, who received one vote.
