Siminalayi Fubara has dismissed reports suggesting that he has left the All Progressives Congress, insisting that he remains a committed member of the ruling party.
The Rivers State governor clarified on Wednesday after inspecting the Neuropsychiatric Hospital and the newly built General Hospital in Rumuigbo.
Fubara described the reports as social media speculation and urged the public to disregard them.
“I am a member of APC and nothing has changed,” he said. “People should stop using whatever situation they pick up from social media or their own interpretation of events to present me wrongly.”
He added that his loyalty to the party remains unchanged and that his priority is to support its overall interests.
“I have not gone anywhere. I am still a member of APC, and I remain a member. Whatever happens, what is most important is supporting the overall interest of the party,” the governor said.
Beyond the political clarification, Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the state, noting that protecting lives and enhancing residents’ welfare remain top priorities.

He said the new General Hospital in Rumuigbo was conceived to address the shortage of accessible and quality healthcare services, particularly mental health care, in the area.
According to him, many residents previously depended on the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital as the nearest major medical facility.
The governor explained that the state government decided to use available land within the Neuropsychiatric Hospital premises to build a modern General Hospital that will serve Rumuigbo, Rumuola, Rumuolumeni and surrounding communities.

Fubara said the project is now about 95 per cent complete and described it as the fulfilment of a promise to the people.
He stressed that governance should be measured by projects and policies that directly improve the lives of citizens.
