
The Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed 18 commissioner nominees submitted by Chukwuma Soludo, clearing the way for the formation of a new executive council in the state.
The nominees were approved during plenary on Wednesday, following the presentation of a screening report by a committee chaired by Hon. Noble Igwe, who represents Ogbaru I Constituency.
Among those confirmed are returning commissioners, including Dr. Law Mefor for Information and Value Reorientation, Dr. Afam Obidike for Health, and Prof. Offornze Amucheazi (SAN) for Lands.
Other confirmed nominees include Chief Ugoji Amedu for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism; Dr. Clem Aguiyi for Environment; Dr. Ben Chuks Odoemenam for Agriculture; Mr. Chukwukadibia Okoye for Budget and Economic Planning; and Dr. Ekene Oguguo for Education.
Also confirmed were Mr. Izuchukwu Okafor for Finance; Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke (SAN) as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice; Barr. Vin Ezeaka for Local Government and Community Affairs; Prof. Charles Ofoegbu for Petroleum and Mineral Resources; Barr. Chijioke Ojukwu for Physical Planning and Urban Development; Engr. Casmir Agummadu for Power; Arc. Okey Ezeobi for Works and Infrastructure; Hon. Eddy Ibuzo for Transport; Mrs. Esther Onyekesi for Women Affairs and Social Development; and Mr. Patrick Agha Mba for Youth Development and Sports.

Speaker of the House, Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, congratulated the nominees and urged them to be prudent and dedicated in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Meanwhile, Governor Soludo has forwarded a second batch of nominees to the Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The new list includes Arc. Henry Arinze as Commissioner-designate for Housing, Mr. Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu as Commissioner-designate for Commerce, and Dr. Ezeaka Augustine Uwaeme as Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency.
The Speaker read the names during Wednesday’s plenary and referred them to the House Committee on Screening and Election Matters for further consideration.
