The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that about ₦800 billion from Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursements was diverted to finance preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The claim was made by Ladan Salihu during an interview on ARISE News on Wednesday.
Salihu said the opposition party based its allegations on what he described as credible information from sources within government as well as reports linked to the World Bank.
According to him, the figures were not fabricated and should be subjected to public scrutiny.
“These figures were not concocted; they were not manufactured. These figures were extracted from an existing international agency report, the World Bank. We have our sources in government who feed us credible information,” he said.
Salihu described the allegation as a serious matter, arguing that the funds belonged to Nigerians at a time when millions are facing economic hardship, poverty and deprivation.
He said the government was expected to deny the claim but urged authorities to go beyond rebuttals by providing full disclosure on how the funds were used.
The ADC chieftain called for a forensic audit of the allocations to determine whether the alleged diversion took place.

“We are saying there should be a forensic audit that will tell Nigerians whether these figures are debatable,” he said.
Salihu noted that the party had not yet submitted formal evidence to any institution but said Nigerians were being put on notice while documentation was being compiled.
He also defended the ADC’s credibility, stating that the party has a comprehensive manifesto focused on reducing poverty, tackling youth unemployment and improving governance.
According to him, the party is preparing to contest the 2027 elections with a commitment to transparency and accountability in public finance.
The federal government has not officially responded to the allegation.
