The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee, aligned with Minister Nyesom Wike, has moved the party’s national convention from March 28–29 to March 29–30. The announcement came after a National Working Committee meeting in Abuja, disclosed by the committee’s Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed.

In addition, the Caretaker Committee dissolved the North-West, South-West, and Plateau State zonal committees, stating that caretaker committees would be appointed to oversee their affairs. Mohammed noted that the approved timetable for ward, state, and zonal congresses will proceed as scheduled.
The Caretaker Committee emphasized consultations with party members before announcing the National Convention Planning Committee to ensure an inclusive process. Mohammed affirmed the PDP remains united under Acting National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed and Acting National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu.

This development follows a Federal High Court ruling in Ibadan that nullified the November 15, 2025, PDP National Convention, which produced Tanimu Turaki (SAN) and his National Working Committee. While the Turaki-led faction plans to appeal the judgment, the Wike-backed group welcomed the court’s restraint on the former NWC from acting in the party’s leadership roles.
