Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Ned Nwoko, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Delta State were manipulated by the state government to favour selected candidates and undermine internal party democracy.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Nwoko described the conduct of the senatorial primaries as “lacking transparency and fairness,” insisting that the process was influenced from the outset.
He alleged that results were not properly collated at the ward level, claiming that directives were issued during the exercise to halt local announcements and centralise result collation at the national level in Abuja. According to him, this created room for irregularities in the final outcome.
Nwoko further claimed that his camp possesses ward-by-ward results and video evidence from the primaries, which he said have already been submitted to relevant authorities for review.
He also questioned the credibility of the results announced, arguing that only a single ward’s outcome was prominently referenced while results from other wards were not adequately considered. He called for full disclosure of figures and supporting evidence from all participating wards.

“I have a mandate by the people,” he said, insisting that he would not accept any outcome that contradicts what he described as the genuine expression of party members across the state.
The senator acknowledged reports of intimidation and violence during the exercise but described them as isolated incidents that, in his view, did not significantly affect the overall outcome.
Nwoko also linked the internal crisis within the APC in Delta State to broader political tensions between legacy party members and newer entrants from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alleging that this imbalance has created structural conflict within the party.

He maintained that he remains committed to the APC but urged the party leadership to thoroughly review the primaries and ensure transparency in resolving disputes arising from the exercise.
The senator expressed confidence that the matter would be reviewed at the highest level of the party and possibly receive intervention from national leadership to ensure fairness and internal cohesion.
