Seriake Dickson has formally received coordinators and members of the Obidient Movement from across Nigeria into the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in a move aimed at strengthening opposition forces ahead of future elections.
Dickson announced the development after meeting with the coordinators in Abuja alongside members of the party’s National Working Committee.
The former Bayelsa State governor directed the new members to begin working immediately with state party officials to ensure their smooth integration into the NDC structure across the country.
He said the meeting was also an opportunity to thank members of the Obidient Movement for the role they played in promoting democratic participation before, during and after the 2023 general election.
According to Dickson, the dedication shown by the movement reflects the growing demand among Nigerians for accountability, political reform and more inclusive governance.
He noted that, having spent much of his political career in the opposition, he understands the hopes and frustrations of citizens searching for a credible alternative platform.
Dickson assured the new entrants that the NDC is committed to democratic reforms and national development and is ready to provide a platform for Nigerians who want meaningful political change.
The event also featured the defection of businessman and politician Diepreye Abaye Leghemo, popularly known as “Dangote of Bayelsa,” into the party.

Dickson and the party’s national chairman welcomed him and encouraged him to contribute to the party’s efforts to build a broad national coalition.
In a further sign of growing support, the NDC leader revealed that a supporter based in Kano State donated a vehicle to the party.
He thanked members, supporters and donors for their continued commitment since the party was launched.
