The Labour Party has released its timetable for the 2026 primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections, alongside the cost of nomination forms for aspirants.
The party’s spokesperson, Ken Asogwa, said the schedule aligns with the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, the Electoral Act 2026, and guidelines from the electoral body.
According to the timetable, nomination forms will be on sale from May 6 to May 16, while submission of completed forms is fixed for May 17 and 18. Screening of aspirants for state-level positions, including governorship, will take place on May 20, while those contesting national offices, including the presidency, will be screened on May 22.
The party said the results of the screening will be released on May 23, followed by appeal hearings on May 24 and 25. The final list of cleared candidates is expected on May 26, while primaries will be held between May 27 and May 29.

The Labour Party also announced detailed fees for aspirants. Those seeking seats in state assemblies are to pay a total of ₦3 million, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay ₦5 million. Senate hopefuls are expected to pay ₦10 million, while governorship aspirants will pay ₦25 million.
For the presidential ticket, the total cost is set at ₦50 million, combining both the expression of interest and nomination forms.
However, the party granted a waiver to Alex Otti, who will receive the governorship form free of charge.
In a move aimed at inclusion, the party also approved concessions for women, youths aged 25 to 30, and persons living with disabilities. These groups will only pay for the expression of interest forms, significantly reducing their financial burden.
