Christopher Musa, Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, is set to chair the maiden edition of the Nigeria Private Security Conference (NPSC) 2026 as stakeholders push for stronger collaboration between government and private security operators.
The conference, themed “Building a modern security ecosystem: Integrating private sector capacity into Nigeria’s national security architecture,” is scheduled to hold on June 13 in Abuja.
Organisers said the event would bring together government officials, security agencies, private sector operators, investors and international delegates to discuss strategies for strengthening Nigeria’s security framework.
In a letter dated May 20 and signed by Group Capt. MK Nanle on behalf of the minister, Musa described the conference as a national platform aimed at improving collaboration among defence institutions, intelligence agencies, technology firms and private security stakeholders.
The defence minister also confirmed his acceptance to chair the conference and expressed the ministry’s readiness to support the initiative.

According to the convener of the event, Charles Awuzie, the conference is expected to attract top decision-makers, including state governors and national security leaders, to drive policy conversations and strategic partnerships within the industry.
Awuzie said the event would also feature exhibitions designed to connect participants with investment and commercial opportunities in the security sector.
He added that the conference aims to promote community-based security systems backed by technology and regulation, while also encouraging reforms that could expand employment opportunities within Nigeria’s growing private security industry.
The organisers said discussions at the conference would focus on improving coordination between public and private security institutions as Nigeria continues to face evolving security challenges across different parts of the country.
