The African Democratic Congress has formally ratified a new National Working Committee (NWC) led by David Mark, marking a key leadership decision as the party positions itself ahead of future elections.
The decision was taken at the party’s 8th national convention held in Abuja, where delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory voted overwhelmingly in support of the new leadership.
Beyond leadership ratification, the convention also approved amendments to the party’s constitution, signalling internal restructuring efforts aimed at strengthening its operations and political direction.
Party officials described the outcome as a unifying moment, with the scale of participation reflecting growing interest and engagement within the ADC’s ranks.
Speaking after the ratification, Mark praised the convention’s planning and organisation, noting that it stood out compared to similar political gatherings he had attended over the years.
He framed the development as more than a routine leadership change, describing it as the beginning of the party’s broader ambition to compete for national power.

According to him, the ADC must now build on the momentum from the convention by deepening internal cohesion and expanding its political footprint across the country.
He urged members to remain committed to the party’s growth, emphasising that sustained effort and unity would be critical if the ADC hopes to transition from a fringe player to a major force in Nigeria’s political landscape over the next four years.
