A chieftain of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has warned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that he may forfeit his right to contest the 2027 presidential election if he remains in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Galadima remarked during an interview on Channels Television on Monday, where he urged Atiku to align with other opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, in a unified political platform aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
He argued that the opposition would struggle to make electoral gains if it remained divided, stressing that a consolidated front was necessary to mount a credible challenge to the ruling party.
According to him, political realignment among major opposition figures has already begun, with claims that Obi and Kwankwaso have moved into what he described as a more unified opposition structure under the NDC platform.

Galadima, however, warned that Atiku’s continued stay in the ADC could have consequences beyond party politics, insisting it may affect his eligibility or political leverage ahead of the next general election.
He also alleged that internal court battles and institutional interference have been weakening opposition cohesion, further complicating efforts to present a united front against the ruling party.
ADC hits Obi over manifesto ignorance, says exit a ‘relief’
Atiku, who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last year for the ADC, has yet to respond to the latest remarks.
The comments add another layer to ongoing tensions within Nigeria’s opposition landscape as parties reposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
