The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has welcomed the nomination of Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power, describing the appointment as well-deserved and timely amid ongoing efforts to reform Nigeria’s energy sector.
In a statement jointly signed by the state chairman, Moses Adeyemo Alake, and secretary, Fatai Adesina, the party said the nomination reflects the need for experienced leadership to address long-standing challenges in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution.
The statement, issued on Tuesday in Ibadan, praised Tegbe’s background as Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, noting that his experience positions him to bring innovation and efficiency to the power sector.
According to the party, Nigeria’s electricity sector requires urgent structural reforms, and Tegbe’s appointment comes at a critical moment when the country is seeking more reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
The APC expressed confidence that the minister-designate would deliver impactful results, citing his record of service across both public and private sectors as evidence of his capability.

It further stated that his leadership would help advance reforms aimed at improving power supply, stabilising distribution networks, and encouraging long-term investment in the sector.
While pledging full support, the party said it would continue to engage constructively with the new minister where necessary, stressing the importance of collaboration between stakeholders and government institutions.
