
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reduced the cost of its presidential nomination form to ₦90 million, while also unveiling a revised timetable for its 2026 primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the fee reduction, from the earlier ₦100 million, followed consultations with party leaders, aspirants, and stakeholders nationwide.
Under the updated structure, governorship aspirants will pay ₦30 million, senatorial candidates ₦10 million, House of Representatives hopefuls ₦5 million, and state assembly aspirants ₦2 million.
The party retained its concession policy, offering a 50 per cent discount to youths aged 18 to 35, and 25 per cent to women and persons with disabilities, in a bid to encourage broader participation.

According to the revised schedule, nomination forms were sold from May 1 to May 4, while submission runs from May 6 to May 13. Screening of aspirants will take place on May 14 and 15, with results expected on May 17, followed by appeals from May 18 to May 19.
The final list of cleared aspirants will be published on May 20. Primaries for state assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate positions are set for May 21, with governorship primaries on May 22 and the presidential primary on May 23.

The process will conclude with a National Executive Committee meeting on May 25 and a special national convention on May 26.
Abdullahi said the adjustments are aimed at strengthening internal democracy, improving inclusiveness, and lowering barriers for aspirants seeking elective positions.
