The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it arrested 170 suspected drug traffickers in Osun State between January and March 2026.
The agency’s Osun command disclosed this in its first-quarter report released in Osogbo on Monday, noting that those arrested include 143 males and 27 females.
According to the NDLEA, 16 of the suspects have already been convicted within the period under review, reflecting ongoing efforts to clamp down on illicit drug activities in the state.
The agency said it seized a range of hard drugs during operations, including 99.609kg of cannabis sativa, 24 grams of cocaine, 6.585kg of psychotropic substances, and 105.131kg of methamphetamine.
Beyond enforcement, the NDLEA highlighted its preventive efforts through public awareness campaigns. It said it conducted 34 sensitisation programmes under its “War Against Drug Abuse” initiative across the state.
The command also reported that 51 drug users were counselled during the period, while one individual was successfully rehabilitated.
The agency reiterated its commitment to combining enforcement with education and rehabilitation as part of a broader strategy to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
