The Nigeria Police Force in the Federal Capital Territory has confirmed that Linda Ameh, a lawyer and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who was reported missing in Abuja, has been found.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said Ameh personally reported to the Maitama Police Station after her release and is currently assisting investigators with details of what transpired.

According to the police, efforts are now focused on identifying and arresting those responsible for the abduction.

“The FCT Police Command wishes to inform the public that Ms Linda Ameh, the legal practitioner earlier reported missing on 6th May 2026, has been found and personally reported to the Maitama Police Station to provide details of the incident,” the statement said.

The command added that investigators are using information provided by Ameh to track down the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice.

Ameh was reportedly abducted on May 6 in the Maitama area of Abuja shortly after leaving work.

Her disappearance sparked concern within the Nigerian Bar Association, which publicly called on security agencies to intensify efforts to secure her release.

NBA President Afam Osigwe described the incident as deeply troubling to members of the legal profession, noting that the association viewed her disappearance as a personal matter affecting the wider legal community.

Reports indicate that Ameh had recently begun working as a sales manager at Blades and Butchers Ltd, located on Lake Chad Crescent in Maitama, while preparing to complete her NYSC programme.

Family members said she was last seen around 5:40 p.m. on the day she disappeared while travelling from her workplace to her residence in Life Camp, Abuja.

The circumstances surrounding her release remain unclear, but the police say the investigation is ongoing.
