A coalition of more than 88 civil society organisations under the Democracy and Good Governance Coalition (DGGC) on Monday staged a solidarity walk in Kano in support of Rabiu Kwankwaso, calling on Nigerians to actively participate in voter registration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event, themed “5 Million Voices for Kwankwaso,” attracted thousands of participants, including youth groups, women’s organisations, professionals, community leaders, and grassroots mobilisers from different parts of the country.
Speaking during the gathering at Kwankwaso’s residence in Kano, DGGC leader Khalifa Dankadai said the large turnout reflected growing public demand for leadership that prioritises accountability, inclusion, and grassroots-driven governance.
He said the walk was designed not only as a political show of support but also as a civic engagement exercise aimed at strengthening democratic participation, social justice, and responsible leadership.

According to the coalition, the mobilisation reflects ongoing political realignments in the country and signals rising public interest in more participatory and issue-driven politics ahead of the next election cycle.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to promoting democratic accountability, peaceful civic engagement, and inclusive governance across Nigeria.

Kwankwaso, who addressed participants, commended the organisers and urged supporters to formally register with his political platform to strengthen its electoral base ahead of 2027.
He also encouraged eligible Nigerians, particularly young people, to complete their voter registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing that participation remains essential in choosing accountable leadership.
