The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has confirmed the abduction of two of its staff members while they were on official duty, as security agencies intensify efforts to secure their release.
In a statement on Monday, the company said the incident happened on April 29, 2026, when two employees were kidnapped in the Ogun region during field operations. A third staff member abducted alongside them has since been released.
The victims have been identified as Seun Bakare and Idris Salami, while Bisola Owoade was freed earlier after the attack.
IBEDC described the situation as distressing and said it is working closely with security agencies to ensure the safe return of the remaining staff. The company also confirmed it is in contact with the families of the victims and is providing support during the ordeal.
Although reports suggest that the kidnappers are demanding a ₦300 million ransom, the Oyo State Police Command said it could not confirm the exact figure being demanded.

Police spokesperson in Oyo, Ayanlade Olushola, confirmed that the workers were abducted while on official assignment at Sayeed Farm in Olohunde village during a meter-related operation.
He said security operatives have intensified search efforts to rescue the victims unharmed and reunite them with their families.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command clarified that the incident did not occur within its jurisdiction, stating that the abduction took place in Oyo State.
The case has added to growing concerns over insecurity targeting workers and travellers across parts of the South-West, with authorities promising continued operations to track down the perpetrators and secure the release of the victims.
