IBADAN, Nigeria — The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified aerial surveillance operations and is supporting other security agencies in efforts to rescue dozens of pupils and teachers abducted by terrorists in Oyo State.

The victims were kidnapped on May 15 when suspected bandits attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area, abducting about 39 students and seven teachers.

The situation worsened days later after one of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly killed by the kidnappers.

In a recent video shared on Instagram, one of the abductees, Rachael Alamu, Principal of Community High School, Esiele, appealed for urgent intervention, revealing that the kidnappers had threatened to kill another victim if efforts were not made to secure their release.

NAF Reaffirms Support for Rescue Operations

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reiterated the Air Force’s commitment to assisting in the rescue mission during a courtesy visit to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan.

Aneke, represented by the Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Suleh, said the NAF remains committed to working with other security agencies and stakeholders to tackle insecurity and protect lives across the country.
