Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has criticised Air Peace over what she described as poor handling of a flight disruption that left passengers stranded at Gatwick Airport for hours.
In a post shared on Friday, the filmmaker said passengers had been stuck at the airport since early morning, with little communication or support from the airline. According to her, travellers were initially informed that the delay was caused by a bird strike, but no clear updates followed afterwards.
Akindele said the situation worsened as passengers, including elderly individuals and familie, remained at the baggage claim area for hours without access to their luggage, food, or confirmed accommodation. She added that although a hotel arrangement was promised, it had not been provided as of the time of her complaint.
Describing the situation as unacceptable, the actress called on the airline to release passengers’ luggage and fulfil its commitment to provide temporary accommodation. Her remarks highlight growing frustration among Nigerian travellers over airline delays and communication gaps during disruptions.

The incident adds to a pattern of complaints involving domestic carriers. Earlier in the year, actress Bolaji Ogunmola raised concerns about repeated flight delays and cancellations, which she said disrupted her film production schedule and led to financial losses.
While Air Peace has yet to respond to Akindele’s claims publicly, the situation has reignited conversations about passenger rights, airline accountability, and service standards in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
