The police commissioner visited the scene of the incident, accompanied by senior officers, where he conducted an on-the-spot assessment.
This was disclosed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, who noted that the police team also met with representatives of the university’s Students’ Union.
Despite the tension surrounding the incident, Tijani commended the students for maintaining order while mourning their colleague.
According to the police, the suspect involved in the crash will be charged to court, as authorities move to address concerns raised by students.
The development follows protests by LASU students, who had earlier stormed the Area M Police Division in Idimu, alleging that officers were shielding the driver involved.
Videos circulating on X showed students demanding accountability and calling for justice over the incident.
