The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has distanced itself from claims that it has withdrawn support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid, describing the reports as false and misleading.
The controversy followed a statement by a group identified as the Arewa APC Forum in Kano, which claimed it had pulled its backing for Tinubu’s re-election after “extensive consultations” and dissatisfaction with the administration’s direction. The group cited concerns including alleged nepotism, incompetence, and corruption, adding that it could no longer support the government “in good conscience.”
However, reacting to the development, the Kano APC leadership rejected the claims, insisting that the forum does not represent the party’s official structure.
In a statement, the party’s publicity secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi, described the announcement as a calculated attempt to create confusion and disunity within the party.
“We wish to state categorically that this so-called forum is not known to the party structure and does not represent the views of APC members in Kano State,” he said.

The party reaffirmed its loyalty to Tinubu’s administration and urged members of the public to disregard statements capable of causing unnecessary tension within the political space.

The APC also warned against what it called the activities of “faceless groups” attempting to undermine party cohesion, especially as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Despite the claims by the Arewa APC Forum, the Kano chapter maintained that its support for Tinubu remains intact, signalling continuity in the party’s stance as preparations for the next election cycle gradually intensify.
