Globacom has renewed its sponsorship of the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival, marking 21 consecutive years of support for one of Nigeria’s most prominent cultural celebrations.
The telecom company said its continued partnership reflects a long-standing commitment to preserving and promoting Nigeria’s cultural heritage while helping to elevate traditional festivals into globally recognised tourism events.
Speaking at a pre-festival press conference in Ijebu-Ode, Globacom’s representative, Olumide Orojimi, described the milestone as a testament to the company’s belief that culture remains a powerful tool for identity, unity and national pride.
According to him, Globacom’s two-decade collaboration with the festival’s planning committee has significantly boosted the international visibility and prestige of Ojude Oba, transforming it from a local communal gathering into one of Africa’s most celebrated heritage events.
He said the company plans to make this year’s edition even more colourful and memorable for Ijebu sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora.

The 2026 edition carries added significance as it will be the first to take place following the death of the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, whose reign of more than six decades helped cement the festival’s cultural importance.
As part of its sponsorship package, Globacom announced cash prizes for winners of the age-grade competitions, with first-place winners to receive ₦750,000, second-place winners ₦600,000 and third-place winners ₦500,000.
Festival attendees will also be able to purchase a range of Glo products and devices, including MiFi units and routers, during the event.
Beyond Ojude Oba, Globacom has supported several other traditional festivals across Nigeria, including the Ofala Festival, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s most consistent corporate backers of cultural preservation and heritage tourism.
