Venezuelans Flown Home as US Deportation Flights Resume

 The United States has resumed deportation flights to Venezuela following an agreement between the two countries. The first flight, carrying 199 individuals, including members of the Tren de Aragua gang, arrived in Venezuela on Sunday, March 23, 2025. ​

This development follows a weeks-long standoff after Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro suspended repatriation flights on March 8, 2025, in response to U.S. sanctions affecting the country’s oil exports. The resumption of flights indicates a negotiated resolution, with Venezuelan authorities agreeing to accept deported citizens. ​

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security confirmed the resumption of flights, highlighting the inclusion of individuals associated with criminal organizations. This move is part of broader efforts to manage migration and address security concerns related to gang activities.
