Tragedy at FSU: 2 Killed in Tallahassee Campus Shooting, Suspect Caught

 A shooting at Florida State University’s Tallahassee campus on April 16, 2025, left two students dead and three injured, with the suspect, a 22-year-old former student, apprehended after a brief manhunt.

 The incident, reported at 11:45 AM in the Strozier Library, prompted a 90-minute lockdown, with police confirming the gunman acted alone, using a legally purchased 9mm handgun, per Tallahassee Democrat. The victims, aged 19 and 21, were pronounced dead at the scene, while the injured, with non-life-threatening wounds, are stable, per local hospital records.

FSU President Richard McCullough called the attack “isolated,” noting no ongoing threat. Authorities, citing a manifesto found on the suspect’s laptop, believe the motive involved personal grievances, not terrorism, though investigations continue.

The shooting, the third on a U.S. campus in 2025, follows a 20% rise in campus violence since 2023, per FBI data. Florida’s 2023 open-carry law, allowing permitless concealed carry, has sparked debate, with 60% of students favouring stricter gun laws, per a 2024 FSU poll.
