The Ogun State Government has announced plans to relocate an illegal motor park and remove street traders operating around Sango Tollgate in a bid to reduce frequent road accidents at the busy Ogun–Lagos border.
The decision was disclosed by the Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, during an inspection visit to the area alongside officials from the state Ministry of Environment, the Ogun State Waste Management Authority, and the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government.
According to the commissioner, the inspection was ordered by Governor Dapo Abiodun following growing concerns over recurring accidents and loss of lives around the tollgate.
Oresanya said the state government had resolved to relocate interstate buses and traders who have been operating illegally at the tollgate for more than 25 years to a more organised location away from the busy roadway.
He explained that the activities of the buses and roadside traders have contributed to traffic congestion and dangerous road conditions around the tollgate, which connects Ogun State to neighbouring Lagos.

To prevent a return of the operators after the relocation exercise, the government plans to construct barricades on both sides of the tollgate.

The commissioner also said the waste management authority would carry out a major cleanup of the area once the relocation is completed.
Oresanya added that environmental marshals and officials from the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government would be responsible for enforcing the directive and ensuring compliance with the new arrangement.
According to him, the relocation of the illegal motor park and the removal of street traders will begin within the next few days.
The government said the move is aimed at restoring order around the tollgate and addressing the persistent safety concerns that have been associated with the area.
