In a recent discussion on the Pound-for-Pound podcast, former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman shared a memorable sparring incident with fellow fighter Justin Gaethje that resulted in Gaethje requiring hospital treatment. Both athletes, known for their intense training sessions under coach Trevor Wittman at ONX Sports in Colorado, have a history of pushing each other to their limits.

During one particularly intense session, Usman delivered a strike that led to Gaethje needing six stitches. Gaethje humorously recounted, “I still got the scar,” highlighting the competitive nature of their training. Despite the physical toll, both fighters view such incidents as part of their commitment to reaching elite levels in mixed martial arts.
