Obafemi Hamzat has stepped up high-level consultations within the All Progressives Congress (APC), meeting with key party figures as speculation grows over a possible consensus candidate for the 2027 Lagos governorship race.
Hamzat disclosed in a post on X that he met with Babatunde Fashola, alongside party stalwart Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, describing the engagement as part of ongoing efforts to shape plans for the state.
“These engagements continue to shape the work ahead as we stay focused on delivering for the people,” he said.
The meeting comes as political conversations intensify within the Lagos APC over who may emerge as the party’s preferred candidate ahead of the primaries.
Beyond the meeting with Fashola, Hamzat has also held discussions with former deputy governors Femi Pedro and Sarah Adebisi Sosan, tapping into their experience as part of his wider consultations.
He also engaged members of the influential Governance Advisory Council (GAC), including its chairman, Tajudeen Olusi, noting that the conversations focused on the future of Lagos and leadership direction.
According to him, the consultations are centred on listening, learning, and building consensus on the kind of leadership the state requires.

However, the growing speculation around a consensus candidacy has been pushed back by another APC governorship aspirant, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor.
Adediran dismissed claims that party leaders have endorsed any candidate, insisting that no such decision has been taken.
