The Norwegian striker’s ruthless form continues as Pep Guardiola’s men grind out a 2–0 win at the Etihad.

Erling Haaland extended his phenomenal goal-scoring streak with a second-half brace that powered Manchester City to a 2–0 victory over Everton, sending the champions back to the top of the Premier League table.

It was another efficient display from Pep Guardiola’s side, who overcame a stubborn Everton defence to claim their sixth win in seven games, once again led by their talismanic forward.

Everton frustrate City early on

The visitors began brightly, pressing high and limiting City’s rhythm in the opening stages. Iliman Ndiaye came close to handing Everton a surprise lead when he almost connected with Beto inside the box, while Jordan Pickford stood firm to deny Jérémy Doku at the other end.

Despite controlling possession, City struggled to find space through Everton’s compact setup. Haaland, unusually quiet in the first half, rattled the crossbar with a fierce header, while young midfielder Nico O’Reilly impressed with his vision and energy in midfield.

Guardiola’s men entered the break frustrated but determined, and the introduction of Savinho shortly after halftime injected fresh pace into City’s attack.

Haaland delivers yet again

The breakthrough finally came in the 57th minute. O’Reilly, showing composure beyond his years, delivered an inch-perfect cross from the left, and Haaland rose highest to head home past a helpless Pickford.

Just five minutes later, the Norwegian struck again, this time rifling a low shot into the bottom corner after being teed up by Savinho’s clever cutback. The Etihad roared as Haaland celebrated his 23rd goal in just 13 appearances across all competitions this season.

Everton tried to respond through substitute Dwight McNeil, but City’s backline, marshalled by Rúben Dias and Josko Gvardiol, stood firm to preserve another clean sheet.

The result lifted Manchester City to the summit of the Premier League, piling pressure on Arsenal, who face Fulham later in the day.

For Haaland, it was yet another reminder of his extraordinary consistency, a striker whose hunger shows no sign of slowing down.
