Force PRO Transferred to Delta Command After Promotion

 The Nigeria Police Force announced the transfer of its Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to Delta Command after his promotion to Deputy Commissioner of Police. 

The move, reported by local media, follows Adejobi’s tenure as the police’s public face, where he addressed insecurity and public concerns, including banditry allegations raised by Datti Baba-Ahmed. In Delta, Adejobi is expected to strengthen community policing in a region plagued by oil-related conflicts and militancy.

Adejobi’s promotion and transfer align with the Inspector-General’s efforts to reposition the force for efficiency, especially after President Tinubu’s directive to tackle insecurity following the Benue and Plateau attacks. His role as PRO included publicizing arrests, such as the 28 suspects linked to the Yelwata attack, and countering misinformation. 

The move has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising Adejobi’s promotion, while others question its timing amid ongoing security challenges. The transfer tests the police’s ability to maintain public trust and operational effectiveness.
