Dapo Abiodun has inaugurated a 5.5-kilometre road linking Elega, Miliki, Saje, Bode-Olude, and Alhaji Sugar areas in Abeokuta, as part of efforts to improve connectivity and boost economic activity in the state capital.
The governor said the project would ease movement across Abeokuta, particularly within Abeokuta North and Abeokuta South local government areas, while opening up the corridor for increased commercial activity.
He noted that the road is already transforming the area, with residents experiencing smoother mobility and growing business activities, especially during evening hours.
Abiodun also used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s focus on infrastructure development, saying more projects are in the pipeline to improve transportation and support local economies.

Beyond the newly commissioned road, the governor announced that reconstruction work will soon begin on the long-abandoned Ago-Odo–Lafenwa road, describing it as one of several inherited projects now being addressed.
He added that the state government is also planning a one-kilometre link road with a bridge to connect the axis to Lafenwa, following appeals from community leaders and traditional authorities, including the Alake of Egbaland.
According to him, about 26 roads across the state are already completed and awaiting commissioning, with a plan to inaugurate at least one project weekly in the coming months.
Abiodun cited the near-completion of the Car Wash–Adatan road as another example of ongoing efforts, stressing that his administration remains committed to delivering infrastructure that improves daily life and drives economic growth.
