Human rights organisation Amnesty International has condemned a deadly attack carried out by Boko Haram militants in parts of Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, which left dozens of residents dead.
The attack reportedly occurred in Guyaku and Telabala communities, where armed fighters invaded on Sunday and opened fire on residents while also setting buildings and property ablaze.
Eyewitness accounts cited in reports described scenes of panic as villagers attempted to flee, while some victims who were unable to escape were killed inside their homes. Several structures, including places of worship and classrooms, were also destroyed during the raid.
The rights group said at least 29 people were killed in the incident, while many others remain missing in the aftermath of the violence.

It further expressed concern over the continued targeting of civilians in insurgency-hit regions, including repeated cases of abductions involving women and children, as well as widespread looting during such attacks.
Amnesty International urged authorities to strengthen civilian protection measures and ensure accountability for repeated assaults on communities affected by insurgency in the region.
The organisation also called for justice and support for victims and their families, noting that the ongoing violence highlights persistent security gaps despite years of counterinsurgency operations in Nigeria’s north-east.
