People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) have reached a major political agreement ahead of the 2027 elections, deciding to field a single presidential candidate.
The decision was reached at an opposition summit hosted by Seyi Makinde in Ibadan, signalling a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening opposition chances in the next general election.
The move is seen as a significant step towards consolidating votes and presenting a united front against the ruling party.
Alongside the alliance, both parties jointly called for the resignation of the INEC Chairman, Joash Ojo Amupitan, citing concerns over electoral integrity and public confidence in the electoral process.
The PDP and ADC alliance for 2027 marks a notable shift in Nigeria’s political landscape, as opposition groups seek to avoid fragmentation and improve their chances at the polls.
With early alignments already forming, the 2027 election cycle is shaping up to be highly competitive. Analysts believe such coalitions could play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the presidential race.
