ICPC Questions Tinubu’s Chief of Staff Gbajabiamila Over PFIPC Controversy

ABUJA, Nigeria — The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has interrogated the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, over his alleged role in the emergence of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Gbajabiamila appeared at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, where he was questioned by investigators over issues relating to the establishment of the council.

Counsel Confirms ICPC Appearance

The development was confirmed by Gbajabiamila’s counsel, Jiti Ogunye, who said the President’s Chief of Staff honoured the commission’s invitation and cooperated with investigators during the interrogation.

According to Ogunye, Gbajabiamila was questioned over the controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.

He did not disclose further details of the interrogation or indicate whether any allegations had been formally made against his client.

Investigation Ongoing

The ICPC has yet to issue an official statement on the outcome of the interrogation or the scope of its investigation into the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.

It also remains unclear whether additional individuals connected to the council will be invited for questioning as part of the commission’s ongoing inquiry.

The development comes as anti-corruption agencies continue investigations into matters relating to public institutions and government programmes.
