Davido Shares Co-Production Role on Upcoming Album ‘5ive’

Afrobeats superstar Davido revealed on April 14, 2025, during a Beats 1 Radio interview that he took a hands-on co-production role for his fifth studio album, 5ive, set for release on June 6, 2025, marking a creative leap for the Grammy-nominated artist.

The 32-year-old, born David Adeleke, described 5ive as “my most personal project,” blending Afrobeats, amapiano, and R&B across 15 tracks, with collaborations including Burna Boy, Tems, and American rapper Future. “I was in the studio tweaking beats, shaping sounds, it’s my baby,” he said, crediting producers like Kiddominant and Sarz for guiding his vision.

Davido’s production debut follows his 2023 album Timeless, which amassed 1.2 billion Spotify streams, and aims to cement his global influence, with 5ive targeting a 20% streaming boost, per Sony Music projections.

The lead single, “Awuke” featuring YG Marley, dropped April 10, hitting 5 million YouTube views in days. Recorded in Lagos and Atlanta, 5ive, named for his fifth project and family of five, promises introspective lyrics, with Davido teasing a tour kicking off in July.
