LAGOS, Nigeria — British-Nigerian rapper Dave and Nigerian singer Tems have earned a spot on Spotify’s 2026 “Songs of Summer” predictions, with their collaborative track Raindance named among songs expected to dominate global playlists during the summer season.
Spotify unveiled the annual list on May 29, highlighting tracks selected by its global editorial team based on streaming trends, listener engagement and cultural impact across different regions of the world.
Dave, whose full name is David Orobosa Michael Omoregie, and Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, secured a place on the prestigious list with Raindance (feat. Tems), a song that has continued to gain momentum since its release in October 2025.
The recognition marks another significant milestone for Tems, whose international profile has continued to rise through chart success, global collaborations and award-winning performances.
Spotify said its editorial team carefully tracks music trends throughout the year before selecting songs with the potential to become defining records of the summer.
Raindance was released as the fifth track on Dave’s third studio album, The Boy Who Played the Harp.
Produced by Jo Caleb, Kyle Evans, Jim Legxacy, Dave and Tems, the song combines soulful melodies with introspective lyrics, blending Tems’ distinctive vocals with Dave’s signature storytelling style.
According to reports gathered by RMNews360, the track reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming Tems’ first chart-topping single in the United Kingdom. The collaboration has also recorded more than 500 million streams globally.
Spotify’s Editorial Lead for Pop, Talia Kraines, described a “song of summer” as one that resonates with listeners across cultures and borders.
“It’s a song that makes you feel good, that you can listen to outside in the sunshine with your friends, and that has the ability to travel across genres, people, and countries,” she said.
