A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups has urged Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu, to prioritise the appointment of loyal group leaders into political offices ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
The appeal was contained in a letter signed by Kailani Muhammad, director-general of the Confederation of APC Support Groups, and addressed to the president in Abuja.
The group said individuals who contributed time, resources, and mobilisation efforts during the 2023 election deserve recognition for their role in securing electoral victory.
Muhammad argued that many support group leaders possess the competence and experience needed for public service and should not be overlooked.
He stressed that while appointments must remain guided by merit, loyalty and past political contributions should also be considered.
According to him, rewarding such individuals would strengthen the party’s internal cohesion and reinforce support for the administration.

The group also commended the administration’s policy decisions, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, describing it as a bold and necessary reform.
However, it urged the government to improve transparency in the management of savings from the policy, insisting Nigerians deserve clearer accountability on how the funds are spent across infrastructure, health, and education.
Beyond political appointments and economic reforms, the group raised concerns about insecurity, noting that terrorism, banditry, and violent crime remain major threats across the country.
It called for stronger efforts to protect communities and restore public confidence in national security operations.
The appeal reflects growing political lobbying within the ruling APC as attention gradually shifts toward the 2027 elections, with various party blocs seeking influence in the next phase of government appointments and alignments.
