Fubara Denies Links With Militants, Warns Against Fake Social Media Posts

 Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has strongly denied allegations linking him to militant groups, emphasizing that the accusations are false and aimed at creating unnecessary tension in the state. His response follows the circulation of videos and posts on social media that claim to show explosions at oil and gas installations within Rivers State.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara dismissed these social media reports as fabrications designed to mislead the public and incite panic. He reassured residents and stakeholders that no such explosions have occurred and that all critical infrastructure in the state remains secure.

According to Fubara, local authorities and community leaders have confirmed that the alleged attacks did not take place. He accused certain individuals of deliberately spreading misinformation to create unrest and destabilize his administration.

“I want to categorically state that I have no affiliation with any militant group, nor do I support any act that undermines peace and security in Rivers State,” Fubara said. “Governance can only thrive in a peaceful environment, and my administration remains committed to sustaining the peace that our people deserve.”

The governor also issued a stern warning to individuals and groups using social media to spread misleading content, stressing that such actions could lead to unnecessary fear, tension, and economic disruption. He urged security agencies to investigate the source of these fake reports and bring those responsible to justice.

The statement further urged residents to disregard any unverified information being circulated online and to rely on official government sources for accurate updates regarding security matters in Rivers State.

This development comes amid heightened political tensions in the state, with various groups accusing political opponents of using propaganda to undermine the government. Fubara reiterated that his administration remains focused on delivering good governance and fostering development, regardless of political distractions.
