Kaduna airstrike: FG donates houses to victims

The Federal Government of Nigeria has begun handing over newly constructed homes to victims of the 2023 accidental military airstrike in Tudun Biri, a community in Kaduna State, as part of broader efforts to rebuild the area.

The initiative follows collaboration between the federal and state governments to rehabilitate the community after the tragic incident, which claimed lives and destroyed property.

Speaking in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the first phase of the intervention delivered 134 housing units, which have now been allocated to affected families, including relatives of those who lost their lives.

Vice President Kashim Shettima had earlier inaugurated the housing project, marking a key milestone in the government’s response to the disaster.

Beyond housing, authorities say the rebuilding effort extends to social infrastructure and economic recovery. The Nigerian military has constructed a new school in the community, while the state government has provided alternative farmlands, complete with certificates of occupancy, to families whose original lands were repurposed for redevelopment.

Officials also confirmed the establishment of a skills acquisition centre aimed at empowering young people, alongside the reconstruction of a mosque damaged in the incident and the building of a new church to promote interfaith harmony.

Infrastructure upgrades have also been introduced to improve living conditions. These include a six-kilometre access road, solar-powered street lighting, and a level-two healthcare facility designed to expand access to medical services in the area.
