Former Nigerian senator Adamu Garba has drawn attention for circulating pro-Iran propaganda online as tensions escalate between Iran, the U.S., and Israel.
Posts on his X account, including videos and claims misrepresented as recent, have projected Iran as gaining the upper hand in the ongoing conflict.
Some of the videos date back to 2023 and 2024, including footage from Israeli operations in Gaza, but have been reshared as evidence of new Iranian strikes on Tel Aviv.
Garba’s activity has included posts alleging missile damage to Israel’s electricity grid and claims of Iranian rejection of a U.S.-Israel ceasefire proposal. Analysts note that these claims do not align with verified reports, raising concerns about misinformation being spread by high-profile figures.
Garba’s political career has been marked by frequent shifts. In 2022, he announced a presidential bid under the ruling APC, raising over N80 million from supporters before withdrawing without returning contributions.

He later joined the Young Progressives Party before returning to the APC in support of President Bola Tinubu. He has previously expressed concern about Northern Nigerians leaving the APC for newly formed coalitions, reflecting his continued engagement in regional political discourse.

Garba’s online influence highlights the intersection of Nigerian political figures and regional conflicts, underscoring the risks of unverified content being circulated to large audiences.
