Residents of Gidan Sani village in the Tsaragi emirate area of Kwara State were thrown into panic on Sunday night when armed bandits stormed the community. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers targeted the home of a miner who was away at the time.
The bandits reportedly attempted to kidnap the man, but his wife resisted. She sustained a gunshot wound and later died from her injuries. Their 10-year-old daughter was also shot in the leg during the attack, while the father was injured but survived. Another man in the community was shot by the fleeing assailants, bringing the total fatalities to two.

Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo described the incident as an attempted kidnapping and confirmed the casualties. He warned that the community and surrounding areas remain vulnerable to attacks, particularly as the state continues to face threats from armed groups and terrorist factions.
This latest raid comes shortly after Boko Haram launched coordinated attacks on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, leaving hundreds dead and several others abducted. The recurring violence highlights persistent security gaps in Kwara State, despite ongoing counter-terrorism and policing efforts.
