Pope Leo XIV has expressed deep sorrow over the recent wave of violent attacks across parts of Nigeria, describing the incidents as troubling and calling on authorities to do more to protect lives.
In a post on X on Sunday, the pontiff said he was grieved by reports of terrorism and communal violence that had claimed lives in several communities, and offered prayers to affected families while urging stronger state action.
His remarks come amid renewed insecurity in parts of the country, including Kwara, Katsina, and Benue states.

In Kwara, gunmen reportedly attacked Woro village shortly after military operations in the area, burning shops and the residence of a traditional ruler, forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes.
